Lecture Series:

BGHS&M presents to the community a series of hour long lectures:
Mondays at 10:00 a.m. at the Boca Grande Community Center Auditorium, followed by reception.

Monday, January 23, 2012: Along The Caloosahatchee River: From ancient mastodons that once roamed its shores, to entrepreneurs and celebrities who relaxed on its waters. Presented by Author, Journalist, and Editor of Tropicalia magazine, Amy Bennett Williams.

Monday, February 20, 2012: Caladesi Island: Yesteryear I Lived in Paradise: Myrtle Scharrer Betz's published personal account of growing up on Caladesi Island in the late 19th & early 20th centuries, presented by her granddaughter, Terry Fortner, Teacher, and Naturalist.

Monday, March 19, 2012: A Brush with History: A Presentation by Artist Christopher Still. Florida Artists Hall of Fame Inductee Christopher Still will share his unique vision of Florida's history through his paintings. *(Lecture begins at 4:00 p.m. with reception in the Special Interest Room at the Community Center.)

History Bytes:

Wednesdays in the Loggia of the Johann Fust Community Library:
A half hour illustrated talk is given by long time Boca Grande residents from 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. followed by refreshments and a question and answer period.

Each week a different "Pioneer Family" of Boca Grande will be featured:

Boat Trip to Useppa Island: January 26, 2012, 11:00—4:00 p.m., join us for lunch on Useppa and a private tour of the museum.

Membership Appreciation Event: Saturday, February 18, 2012, 6:00—8:00 p.m.

Spring Exhibition: In the Pelican Room, Gasparilla Inn; Monday, February 27th - Friday, March 2nd from 10:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. daily, free and open to the public.

Penny Social Event: Saturday, March 31, 2012, 1:00-4:00 p.m.-Community Center Grounds
